So I doubt I will get aids, I start have symptom, a lot of symptom which is last to today.
I became very worry when I doubt a symptom like influe, Sore throat or  red button on my shoulders towards my back & on my front , so I have tested several times using the available HIV  tests in Burkina Faso especially when I found any symptoms.
Since that time I didn't make any sexual activity, it was my last intercourse.
Although All of my tests results came negative but I am worry till now about the types of the tests, its dates.

I have some question which make me concern a lot:

1. After the incident , I took  antibiotic “ amoxilline 1000”  for 10 days, this would affect my first test accuracy, or other tests , because I was infected by malaria and after getting out from the hospital I did my last test.

2. Does my tests are reliable and approved and should trust it

3. Does my tests conclusive and should I put HIV behind me

4. Will I need to do another tests by ELISA or DNA to be sure that  I am free of aids especially I will marry next year.

5.  I am worry about my tests technology of testing , could you please inform me about it , Its dates were suitable to my case or not and if you prefer to recommended me another test.

Thanks a lot and best wishes, looking forward to hearing from you.

Question:

Hello -

I had met a person online back on September 4, 2012 and had a one night
stand. It was male to male sex and I had unprotected oral sex and protected
anal sex where I was the bottom. I started to get symptoms (swollen glands,
nasal congestion, loose stool and upset stomach, some red spots on my stomach
and neck (thought it was more like folliculitis) around the 4th week and I
completely freaked myself out by using Google to look up my symptoms (not a
good idea). So I decided to get myself tested.

On day 28, I got a negative Antibody Test Result
On day 35, I got a negative DNA PCR Test and Negative antibody
On day 56, I took a STD 8 Panel test and everything came back negative except
for Herpes 1 (so normal negative results according to the lab).

At this point, my doctor thinks I may have a sinus infection because I have
headaches, swollen neck glands, post nasal drip, but not fever). I just
wanted to understand if you can help me with the following questions:

1. Are symptoms of initial HIV infection very similar to other common
alignments? In addition, how long will they last?
2. Have you ever heard of anyone with negative PCR DNA after 28 days and a
negative antibody test after 8 weeks become positive at 12 weeks? Can you
quantify a percentage of accuracy of an 8 week antibody test?
3. Why is an Antibody test at 12 weeks considered the gold standard, but not
a PCR DNA Test after 28 days? Is it because of the potential for false
positives without confirmatory test like a western blot when an ELISA
antibody test is taken?
4. If after 12 weeks, I do come back negative again (praying I do). What are
ways to cope with this post traumatic event and move on with your life?

Thanks in advance of your help!

Question:

Hello, I was hoping you could shed a bit of insight into my current situation.

I was likely exposed to HIV in a situation involving oral sex, both receptive and insertive, although I performed oral sex for only a few brief moments and there was no ejaculation involved. Furthermore, I did not have any cuts or sores in my mouth at the time.

Following this exposure (I say likely because he was only found positive on a preliminary rapid antibody test), I have been tested as follows:

1) Rapid antibody at 5 weeks 4 days - Nonreactive

2) HIV PCR DNA and Antibody at 7 weeks - Negative and nonreactive

Can you provide me with any insight into this situation and your thoughts on my current testing results? I do plan on following up with a 12 week confirmatory test per standard CDC guidelines.

Thank you for your help!

Question:

I had protected vaginal intercourse followed by unprotected oral from a sex trade worker on 3rd September. Then on 15th October I had protected vaginal
intercourse and fingered another escort. On 31 October I went for HIV testing
using ELISA test + Western Blot. Both came back as negative. Is this
conclusive? Should I still be worried about HIV? I've been having pain in my
armpit, jaw, and headache. Thanks

Question:

Sorry to bother you again. I posted this on Friday

Hello, My 4 1/2 yr old daughter was given an unrelated umbilical cord blood injection (4ml) for autism on 12th Aug this year. In the 2 months that followed she had 4 episodes of fever with rash showing up three times. Dengue and Malaria were ruled out by a blood test. The stem cell bank in question (www.reelabs.com) has given us a certificate of analysis claiming that they test for HIV 1 & 2, HCV etc via PCR before extraction of stem cells from cord blood. However to rule out any possibility of infection we went for a HIV 1 & 2 antibody test and a HCV (tridot) on the 28th OCT (exactly 78 days or 11 weeks after the injection was given) and the tests were negative. The HIV test was ELISCAN HIV 1 & 2 - a 3rd generation ELISA test manufactured by Ranbaxy Diagnostics India. My question is...do we need to test again or can we get this out of our system and move on..

Regards, Concerned parent.

PS: The lab called me up to inform me that what they had actually used was a 2nd generation ELISA named MICROLISA HIV 1/2. You can find more details about the test here http://www.jmitra.co.in/ourdivision/diagnosticdivision/elisatestkits/hiv...

They claim that even a 2nd gen test can pick up almost all infections by 6-8 weeks. Does this change anything in my case???

Thanks,
Concerned Parent

Question:

I took an antibody test after 35 days. It was NEGATIVE. NON Reactive. My exposure was a low risk activity of a man rubbing on top of me until ejaculation without any penetration. What do you think about this test?
